Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane elements from Membrane Solutions are widely used to provide safe-to-drink water for residential and light-commercial applications. As the primary filtration stage of RO systems, MS RO membranes deliver consistent performance for all users with advanced membrane technology and automated spiral-wound fabrication.
The MS RO membrane elements are NSF/ANSI Standard 58 certified, featuring a high permeated flow while maintaining a 99% TDS removal rate and a stabilized 97% salt rejection rate. These membranes can efficiently remove a wide range of contaminants, including heavy metals (such as fluoride, calcium, magnesium, lead, colloids, chromium, and nitrates), organic materials, harmful minerals, and other soluble salts found in water.
Designed with a universal size of 11.75 x 1.75 inches, the MS RO membrane fits most 10-inch standard RO systems. The product is compatible with a variety of RO systems, including APEC Water Systems, Aquatic Life, Express Water, Geekpure, H2O Splash, Home Master, iSpring, Max Water, and PureGen, among others. However, it may not be compatible with systems with specific RO housing designs, such as Culligan, EcoWater, GE, Microline, Rainsoft, Watts Premier, and Whirlpool.
The MS RO membrane elements have a permeate flow capacity ranging from 50 to 400 gallons per day and a salt rejection rate of 97%. They are made from 100% food-grade Thin Film Composite (TFC) material, ensuring ultimate purification performance and meeting the NSF/ANSI 58 standards for safe, clean drinking water.
For optimal usage, it is recommended to rinse the membrane elements for 24 hours before the first use, discard the initial full tank of permeate, and keep the elements moist at all times. To prevent biological growth during prolonged system shutdowns, it is advised to immerse the membrane elements in a preservative solution and rinse out the preservative before use.
The membrane shows some resistance to short-term chlorine (hypochlorite) exposure, but continuous exposure should be avoided as it may damage the membrane.
The MS RO membrane elements have a life expectancy of 24 to 36 months, depending on average feedwater quality, temperature, and incoming water pressure. For use in maple syrup reverse osmosis systems, a working pressure of 100 psi is recommended, and the raw sap should be heated and maintained at 104°F (40°C) to prevent membrane clogging, while keeping the temperature below 113°F (45°C) to avoid membrane damage.
